Litigation Solicitor – East Riding of Yorkshire Council

East Riding of Yorkshire Council seeks a Civil Litigation Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX practitioner with a current practising certificate to join the Litigation & Regulatory Services Team.

Duties include dealing with a varied caseload of civil litigation work from across all areas of the council but primarily dealing with housing in relation to disrepair claims, injunction applications (including without notice applications), possession claims and closure applications.  We seek a confident advocate with the ability to act in civil proceedings in the County Court and Magistrates Court.  You will also be required to provide training to council departments and act as a legal adviser to committee on occasions.

Experience of working within local government is desirable but not essential.  You should be enthusiastic and willing to contribute effectively to team working and have a can-do approach.  Excellent communication skills are required as is the ability to work effectively at all levels across the council including with elected members, senior leadership team and other stakeholders.
