Head of Conveyancing – Andrew Kingston & Co

We have an upcoming vacancy for our Head of Conveyancing.  Applicants must be Solicitors or Licensed Conveyancers with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience, and have held an unconditional Practising Certificate or Licence since admission.  Experience working in a CQS registered firm will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will lead a small but experienced group who work collaboratively, in an open plan section of our office dedicated to the conveyancing team.  We pride ourselves on the “family” atmosphere within the office as a whole, which is reflected not just in the office but in social events outside it.

Candidates must:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of conveyancing law and procedure, including of course the Law Society’s Conveyancing Protocol;
  • Have proven ability to deal competently and effectively with their own caseload of files;
  • Have the ability to relate to clients and other professionals in an empathetic, constructive, and helpful manner;
  • Be able to work effectively and co-operatively within a small office, in particular so as to maintain and promote our pleasant working environment;
  • Have good oral and written communication skills;
  • Maintain the excellent reputation that the firm has developed in relation to conveyancing work, as demonstrated by its current high volume of instructions, including many repeat instructions from existing and former clients and recommendations from them; and
  • Have good IT skills including familiarity with MS Office, although full secretarial support is provided.

The role is office-based and will involve working from 9.00am to 5.00pm, from Monday to Friday each week.

The successful candidate will receive:

  • A pleasant and fulfilling working environment within modern offices in Hull City centre;
  • A competitive salary;
  • The opportunity of inclusion (if desired) with others in succession to ownership of the firm on the retirement of the current principal, expected to be within a few years from now;
  • Inclusion in a statutory workplace pension, through the Government’s NEST provider;
  • 25 days’ paid holiday each year, plus all statutory Bank Holidays; and
  • All necessary ongoing training, to maintain and enhance their Continuing Professional Development.

This post represents an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to significantly progress their career including, should they wish it, the prospect of achieving full partnership status in a fairly short period.

Applications should be submitted in writing, accompanied by a full CV, either by post or delivery to our offices at Andrew Kingston & Co., 7-8 Whitefriargate, Hull, HU1 2ER, or by e-mail to [email protected].
